Myspace music review : BLACK LIGHT BURNS

With members who’ve variously served in Limp Bizkit, Nine Inch Nails, and A Perfect Circle, Black Light Burns promises the worst aspects of all those. Happily, such is not the case, at least with “Cruel Melody,” which combines the tunefulness of A Perfect Circle with some of Trent Reznor’s more approachable moments, and “Animal,” a synth-driven track that wouldn’t be out of place on a recent Depeche Mode album. Actually, given the goth makeup the group seems fond of, a little more cacophony wouldn’t be unwelcome, but for now the commercial smarts on display point to a bright future.
